Upgrade from iOS 5.1.1 to 6.1.2 without loosing any data
Hi guys, I need your expertise on the following issue:
I have an iPad 3 running iOS 5.1.1.
I jailbroke it right after I got it and never upgraded since.
I am also not using iTunes, but instead programs like CopyTrans, iFunBox etc.
I'd like to upgrade to iOS 6 as many apps are no more compatible with iOS 5.
Is there any way to easily upgrade to iOS 6 (e.g. 6.1.2) without loosing the Jailbreak and (more importantly) any data from the iPad?
The easiest solution I see is to upgrade directly from the iPad, and then re-jailbreak. However, this would upgrade to iOS 6.1.4, which is not jailbreakable...

As of today, this is not possible. Sorry.

So this click-shift before upgrade (to enter explorer and pick your own ipsw file) doesnt work because itunes still verifies against apple servers which doesnt allow 6.1.2 to be installed now when 7.0.3 is available?
I have a 4S with ios 5.1 and would like to upgrade to ios 6.1.2 but it says "error, iphone not found" after extracting the 6.1.2 ipsw file...but the iphone is connected to the computer the entire process...
Please give me some closer information about this matter....thanks in advance!

There isn't any way to do this. Either stay where you are, or go to 7.0.3
