    Default Error1600
I'm trying to restore my jailbroke iPad 3 but I'm getting error 1600. Did some looking around and found I need to change set hosts to cydia on exit in tiny umbrella. So, I open tiny umbrella and it says that my files are currently set to cydia as soon as I open it, my problem is I can't uncheck that box,it's greyed out. Anyone know why it would be greyed out or how I can fix this

If anyone has any other ideas on what could be preventing me from updating please let me know. Thanks

I'm not sure why it's greyed out but even with unchecking the box that's not going to resolve the 1600 error. That will resolve the 3194 error. Are you trying to restore with a custom firmware?

Also, since you can't seem to access the option to disable pointing to Cydia on exit in TU, you can change your host files manually. What firmware version are you trying to restore to?

I'm simply just wanting to restore my iPad cause I have some kind bug or something going on with it. It all started when the "reset all contents and data" was accidentally pushed. I had the infinite spinning pinwheel. I got out of that and my iPad has been acting a little funny ever since.
I'm just trying to restore it back to stock on 5.1.1

Been looking around and someone says the failsafe way to update and not get any errors is to open terminal on computer and open private/etc/hosts and delete all the gs.apple.com files.
I don't want to mess things up any worse than they already are. Is this something I should do?

Ok, so are you using a stock firmware to restore? Are you, in iTunes, plainly clicking the restore button or are you using the shift+restore method?

Without knowing what you have done so far, it is hard to determine what went wrong.

Yes, I'm simply connecting my iPad and clicking restore in iTunes. It starts working then gives me the 1600 error

I have also tried putting in DFU mode and restoring

Okay, try another USB port. Even better, if possible, try another computer. If you have a spare usb cable to try, that wouldn't hurt either. Meanwhile, I will pull up some instructions on changing your host files manually in case they are indeed altered.

A couple other things to try:
    1. Attempt a restore in DFU mode
    2. If DFU does not work, attempt a restore in Recovery Mode.

Have you tried putting your iPad in Recovery mode and restore that way? Certain you have the correct iPad firmware?

    So in terminal I have
    #74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    #127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

Is this saying I should delete both of them?

You need to remove any line on your hosts file that has something like 74.208.151.171 gs.apple.com from your hosts file. You can also add ‘#’ in front of it e.g. # 74.208.151.171 gs.apple.com.

Sorry if I'm sounding like a noob lol. I'm really good with a jailbroken device, just not good at all with computers and the restoring part.

Yes, you need to remove whatever it is the guide is telling you to remove in order to point back to Apple's server for a restore to currently signed firmware.

Upgrading to ipad baseband and downgrading to unlock. Gonna sell them. Problem is, neither my Macbook Pro or my Macbook Air will use Redsn0w properly. It keeps crashing whenever I try to do anything with the baseband, but it jailbreaks the phones just fine. I'm so frustrated right now lol.

For $19.25 you can get them officially unlocked kiddo, may be worth it.
