Default Downgrade from 4.3b3 to 4.2 fails- 1015
I have been trying unsuccessfully to downgrade from 4.3 b3 on my ipad to 4.2.1. I have my shsh blobs saved for 4.2.1. I use tiny umbrella TSS server and try to restore via iTunes. The log shows the ipad receiving the request. It gets to updating firmware after the blue bar goes across it goes to the swirly bar then kicks out with a 1015 error. Rec boot nor tiny umbrella won't kick it out of recovery. I even tried putting it in pwned dfu via redsnow and went through the procedure again.

You can try running greenpoison rc5 after you get the 1015 error.

giving it a try now. thnxs for the response....

I cannot thank you enough. I have been messing since I made the mistake of upgrading to the beta. I was messing with some apps I am developing for 4.3. I know better than to update to betas. Thanks again....

yep. took a while to get the "loader" to install cydia but all running good so far. Slowly rebuilding after the downgrade but so far a resounding success. Thanks for the help....

Was this done on an iPad or iPad 3G? Just curious because some of us haven't been able to downgrade iPad 3G on 4.3 beta back to 4.2.1 because of new baseband checks on the firmware. Can only downgrade to 3.2.x or upgrade back to 4.3 beta, but 4.2.1 is out of the question.

Is it worth me going through the motions again of restoring 4.2.1 then using the new greenpois0n RC5 to jailbreak and bypass the baseband checks? Or will my efforts be futile and only a jailbreak for 4.3 is going to get my iPad 3G jailbroken on iOS 4 again?

    regards,

Not having any luck so far. Same behavior is seen when restoring to 4.2.1. The jailbreak operation never completes and reboots into this protected recovery mode with no way to exit.

Restored to 4.3 beta successfully and tried to jailbreak with greenpois0n for the hell of it but the jailbreak operation never completes the same way but does boot back into iOS.

It seems there's no hope of a downgrade to 4.2.1 for owners of iPad 3G whom have upgraded to 4.3 beta. At least not at this time. My only options are to stick with 4.3 beta and forfeit the jailbreak or downgrade to 3.2.2 for the jailbreak.

Unless someone here can perform a miracle this will have to do!

EDIT: Have also discovered that I cannot jailbreak my iPad on 3.2.2 with the latest greenpois0n RC5. I must use version 1.0 otherwise the jailbreak operation fails as above.

    Thanks x98car!
I have installed ios 4.3 beta and got the same problem when downgrading to ios 4.2.

Restoring 4.2, leave it in recovery mode and run Greenpois0n RC5_2.
After that, activate by iTunes. Everything works!

I've restored, upgraded, downgraded and wiped things clean so many times I'm starting to worry about wearing out the flash drive lol I'm on 3.2.1 jailbroken now.
If this has worked for any other 3G iPad owners I'll give it a shot though!
    Anyone?
In answer to my own question for those wondering-yes! It works for 3G iPads just fine! Who's feet do I kiss??? I've been screwing with this for a month and couldn't get back to 4.2.1, ONLY TO 3.2.1. I'm so happy! I ran Greenp0ison rc5b2 after upgrading (meant to restore but forgot, upgrade worked) to 4.2.1 from 3.2.1 and getting the 1015 error. Cydia wasn't there though so I went ahead and then ran "redsn0w_win_0.9.6b5" to get Cydia. Worked like a charm! I'm now FINALLY jailbroken on 4.2.1 after having updated to that blasted 4.3 b3.
    X98car-thank you!!
If anyone else on Windows does this-make sure you're running Greenp0ison (and Redsn0w if you use it) in WindowsXP compatiability mode. Otherwise it'll freeze up.

Glad I found this thread. I have my iPad 3G on 4.3 beta, and while it's running fine I'm thinking of going back to 4.2.1 for the jailbreak freedom, plus I see no benefit personally in 4.3. I'll be trying this tonight, and now I know not to poop my pants when it falls over. I tried GP on 4.3 last night for something to do but it failed, so Apple have obviously patched the exploit used for 4.2.1 JB. Cheers for the info.

Worked for me, iPad 3G. Took 2 goes at greenpoison, first time said it worked but booted into recovery, all good next run. Got cydia first go. Couldn't restore from backup due to going to an earlier firmware, but only lost a few game scores so no problem.

I confirm that I have done this. If you have Upgraded your iPad3g (NOT WiFi Model) to 4.3 beta and want to downgrade back to 4.2.1 then put your iPad3g in DFU mode and press shift + restore (Windows) or Option + restore (Mac). Load 4.2.1 Firmware then let it downgrade. After Downgrading you will get error 1015 and your iPad3g will be on recovery screen (itunes & USB logo). Close iTunes now. Go to GreenPois0n & Download greenpois0n . Run greenpois0n jailbreak. This greenpois0n will 'Hackitvate' your iPad 3g. Now open iTunes to activate officially and you will be on 4.2.1 firmware. But the baseband ofcourse will still stay on 7.11.00 that belongs to 4.3 firmware. In few cases you might need to run greenpois0n twice, so do not hesitate to run greenpois0n two times.

Ok so i have an iPhone 3gs and i updated to the 4.3 beta firmware, i jailbroke it and then removed the beta lines in the device using i-funbox then i reboot my device. and when i activate it in iTunes and go into the phone all the apps are gone, even the ones that come with the phone. Ive tried to downgrade back to 4.2.1 several times looking at multiple solutions but they never work. Around the end of the update bar on the phone it shuts off and goes to connect to iTunes screen and iTunes gives me a error code 1015. ive used a bunch of programs to get out of that but it never works. Please help me!! It is 3:05 pm right now and ive been trying to fix this since 2 am last night. Please help!
