    Default Cannot Jailbreak my iPad!
Im not new to jailbreaking, and I am computer literate... but

Ive tried to JB my iPad with 4.2.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.7b6

It seems to go OK up to the very end when it says 'exploiting with Limera1n'. The progress bar on the computer goes all the way to the right.

The iPad reboots and isnt jailbroken (no cydia icon).

I restore the pad and use Limera1n alone and the ipad is jailbroken, but tethered.

I tried running redsn0w on top of that, but still no untethered jb.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    I am using:

Mac OS X Snow Leopard on an iMac

I have the 4.23b SHSH locally (tiny umbrella) and on Cydia

My iPad UDID is in the developer list

    I have the 4.23b firmware

The redsnow beta does work and is very "real".

OP you may need to try it on another computer or make sure you have a good copy of the 4.2b3 firmware.

They have ironed out all the bugs in it now. If you have a Mac and 4.2b3 SHSH (and legit access to 4.2b3 firmware) I see no reason why this shouldnt be done.

    x98car is right.

The untethered jailbreak is so stable and complete that I've done it on both my iPad and iPhone 4, with great results. Note that it's important to follow the directions quite precisely, and as x98car mentioned, have legit access to the 4.2b3 firmware. In addition, you MUST have the 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved for your particular device.

The only thing I've found that still doesn't work properly is reading protected books in iBooks. Not ideal, but I can live without it, and just get my books elsewhere.

OK, I FINALLY got it to work!

I used a friends macbook, and the jaibreak went through fine. It failed the first time because I forgot to have a wifi connection for it to check for the shsh with cydia.

I guess I have to try a clean install of snow leopard on my imac (I was running 10.6.6)

I have a Question Also. Although I'm Noob when it comes too Jailbreaking, it just so happens that I bought n iPad and well I used redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc8 and when i start to jailbreak it, I only get as far as uploading RAMDISK and then it just pauses. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it happens everytime I try n Jail break it. Its updated too 4.2.1. It's the first Jail break on my iPad. Am I doing something Wrong?

I also heard that on windows it is a very looooooong process due to the way windows handles the operation.
