I want to upgrade my iPad firmware to 4.2, but I really do not want to lose my Cydia apps and their settings. Is there a way to backup the files and .deb packages installed on my iPad, so i can upgrade to 4.2, then rejailbreak, and have all my apps installed from cydia be the same, as well as their settings?

Im fairly certain there is an app backup manager available through Cydia you can useIf I've helped you remember to say

Exactly and any purchases you've made on Cydia are stored in your account and you can redownload them when you upgrade.

i was unaware of a 4.2 JB? i did the same and upgraded...but im just waiting for a JB to come out, whether its tethered or not??
i did try a couple times using redsn0w new B4 and greenpois0n as well and neither of them JBed my device...maybe its just me?

redsn0w only gives you a tethered JB for now, hopefully they will iron out the remaining kinks and get an untethered JB out soon
