Thread: iPad upgrade from 3.2 to 3.2.1

Default iPad upgrade from 3.2 to 3.2.1
I realize that the latest iPad version is 3.2.2, but I want to upgrade from my current version of 3.2 to 3.2.1, and every time I try to do so via iTunes (Shift + Restore), it says "Verifying iPad restore with Apple..." then I get the following error: "The iPad 'iPad Name' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)."
I searched all over the Internet for a solution but to no avail. I tried modifying the 'hosts' file to include "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" and also tried "74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com", but it doesn't do anything. I tried this on 2 computers.
My current version of 3.2 is jailbroken, by the way.
I just want to upgrade from 3.2 to 3.2.1 and jailbreak, is this too much to ask?!!!

Why? As I recall it wasn't a significant update.

I'm hoping it'll fix this issue I've been having with my iPad... It keeps freezing on a regular basis for a period of about 1 minute. It does it every few hours and at completely random times. That's the only reason.

    Default 3.2.1 addresses WIFI issues.

It is significant if you are one having the WIFI issues that 3.2.1 supposedly fixes - such as mine.

But that being said, I haven't heard that 3.2.1 fixes any freezing issues...

Do you have your 3.2.1 shsh files on file with Cydia? if not, then you will only be able to upgrade to 3.2.2 AND you will never ever ever ever be able to install 3.2.1. Apple is only signing 3.2.2 for iPad right now, so without shsh files on backup, you can only upgrade to that. in fact now that their is no OS on your iPad, if you don't have shsh files to go back to 3.2 and you will be forced to use 3.2.2 with no possibility of jailbreak, until a new one is released.

So if I have Shsh with Cydia for 3.2 3.2.1 then I can download the iPad 3.2.1 update and install it? When would I have to edit and add the host file entry?

go here and download tiny umbrella for your os
    The Firmware Umbrella

run it as admin and make sure you unblock it from your firewall, if it asks you

hit "Start TSS Server" and then restore from itunes with your 3.2.x firmware
