Thread: Mnerd's mobile terminal substitute via iSSH

Default Mnerd's mobile terminal substitute via iSSH
In a tweet yesterday, mnerd says he used the iSSH app ( from app store) to get at a mobile terminal substitute @127.0.0.1

    I scored iSSH..pretty cool app

Unfortunately, i can't seem to ssh into this...keep getting connection refused.

Can anyone with iSSH see if they can get into this mobile terminal sub? I'm assuming this is the terminal he had running in his original iPad JB vids..

Can't figure out which setting i screwed up..

    Thx for any help..

    EDIT:

    Figured out my problem..

Apparently ssh was toggled off in my SBSettings...geesh

The mobile terminal sub works great, btw

Nice find. I like the fact that it works in full screen for the iPad too!

Same thing happened to me. Forgot the openssh. You should use iSSH to change your default password.

Yup, that was the first thing i did . 'alpine' no more!

And yeah, iSSH looks GREAT in the iPad fullscreen...nice to see a fullscreen terminal

    Default Ssh
    I'm a little confused...

Using WinSCP and openSSH on my iphone, but due to localization issues I haven't installed openSSH on iPad. iSSH was mentioned as replacement, but in documentation for iSSH it says 'transferring files via WinSCP will not and cannot work with legitimate iPhone SSH apps.'

For $10 I want to make sure I will be able to transfer files to/from iPad as I have been on iPhone using winSCP? Is this also a mobilterminal replacement?

    Thanks for any info...

Im using OpenSSH with WinSCP on ipad ok. I don't think normal iphone apps are allowed the type of access you want, I could be wrong though.

^have you tried your location in maps?...I don't think it works with openSSH installed on iPad.

Location services aren't working for me after installing openSSH

I personally have no problem with my location services after installing openSSH...

    ttierno2-

Apparently the issue is either limited to Wi-fi models or it's harder to notice on the 3G model because the gps chip is doing the heavy lifting. I assume you have a 3G, but it would be helpful if you'd confirm that.

    Dave,

I have the WiFi iPad, not the 3G version. I'm going to test again today for verification, but I assure you that mine was working.

Here's some other information from the Xsellize forum:

Thanks for replying. I'm aware of the workarounds, but was curious and surprised to hear that you have OpenSSH installed and haven't experienced the problem.

Do you happen to know whether you used version 1 or 2 of the spirit jailbreak? I'm wondering if perhaps that is the difference. (I used the 1st release)

    Dave,

I figured out why I wasn't experiencing any Location issues. I hadn't rebooted my phone since I installed SSH. I did it last night, and now I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I apologize for presenting false hope..

Anyone found another mobile terminal sub yet? I have no issues using iSSH, just curious if there is another alternative yet.

    to login use the settings:

    Description: iPad Shell

    Login: root

Password: alpine (Unless you have changed it)
