Ipad 1st Gen charging issues

Why won't my iPad charge? It is finicky about being charged; sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. Lately it has been giving me "Not supported with this accessory" message when I plug it in. Battery is very close to dying and I can't seem to charge it! Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, if it is not charging correctly replace the cord or wall adapter (or both) before you do anything else. I'd have to assume it is one of those. Do you have the original wall adapter? These will either take forever to charge or wont charge at all with the smaller iPhone version so make sure you are using the right one.
