08-04-2012, 06:05 AM #1Accidently renamed Applications - HELP!
I was SSh'ing over to my ipad 1 5.0.1 i think. (latest version)
i was at the mobile,var, applications section and renamed all my games from strange letter and number combinated to the applications real name.
Example: HD8DMSKA - JDIUAD8DMA - MDADA ===> The Dark Knight Rises
I did this with all my applications, is there any other solutions than reinstalling all my apps?
My applications currently do not work. it opens then closes immidietly.
Thanks for your assistance.

If you can remember each one, just get iFile and hit the little blue arrows on each one. It has a ton of options, one of them is to rename it. So just rename it back. If you can't remember the name for each one, you can always restore to a backup via iCloud without losing your jailbreak.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

what if the backup is from before i downloaded the apps?
How can i check which backup i have?

It'll say when it was last backed up in the iCloud section of your iPhone. If it was from before you downloaded the apps it would be useless.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

Erasing all content and settings normally does it, but sadly you're jailbroken so this method won't really work. Just go into iTunes and select the option to restore. When it's done, an activation screen will show up asking you to activate it and all of that stuff. At one point, it will ask you if you want to restore your iPhone from a backup, or set it up as new. You want to hit the "restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup" option and then select the backup. From there just let it do it's thing and then the issue should be fixed.I will no longer be very active here anymore due to a variety of reasons.

You have to re-jailbreak to get Cydia back. You're most likely on 5.1.1 now that you restored, so use Absinthe or Redsn0w to jailbreak.
