Thread: Clock app?
04-05-2010, 04:29 PM #1Clock app?
Can someone recommend a nice simple clock app for the iPad. Since it did not come with one I was looking for something similar to the standard iPhone app but for the iPad. Time, world clock, stopwatch, alarm.

I was very confused when I noticed there was not clock app as well. Haha. I think they could of put some kind of clock in there. The main downfall is the lack of a clock that works in the background.Sent from my iPad

I am using NHK clock which is free. Type in the search "alarm clock free" and it pops up tons of them.

if you guys need the clock app go into your iphones files go to /Applications/ and coppy MobileTimer.app to your computer then ssh into your ipad and go to /Applications/ and place MobileTimer.app in there then change the permissioins to 777 (here is how SSH - Zodipedia) then respring. now this will make it iphone size and use apple 2x thing. To change this you can just do the ipad size iphone app mod found here How to make non-iPad specific apps iPad Size Compatible
boom now you have the iphone clock app in ipad size
only downside about doing the ipad app size mod is that the timer part of the clock app wont work everything else works perfectly, but the timer works if you dont do the ipad size app mod

Will the clock work run in the background without backgrounder like it does on the iphone?

Here's a screen shot of what santaf is talking about
You also have to put SteathBravo's "How to make non-iPad specific apps, iPad Size Compatible" code in to make it full screen

Can anyone do a clock app upload for me? iPhone got stolen =( can't go and ssh it off.

Lemme look. Mods please feel free to inform us if uploading it is considered warez. I just have to wait another hour for my old lady to get home, and I'll get it from her iPhone.
EDIT: Lol, maybe I should learn how to read; she has a first gen...
EDIT: AGAIN.. >.<
SO maybe I found a link... Here
Again, Mods, if this is a no-no, please accept my apologies :-)
Oh yeah, anyone else getting a blank icon? I can't get the icon to work...

So if this strategy works with the Clock.app, then would it work with Calculator, Weather, ect? Can you just SSH and enlarge?
05-07-2010, 11:55 AM #15
I'll test it if anyone wants to put either of those apps online somewhere...

Weather and Calc both exit immediately (crash) in both native 'iPhone' mode and with the iPad modified info.plist. Compass.app DOES work at least in the native iphone mode.
Gonna try to remember how to change the 'MobileTimer' icon name to Clock on the springboard without renaming the app itself...
Looks like the old Springboard localization strings are gone, here's how to change the display name of the app itself:
Edit the /Application/MobileTimer.app/Info.plist
add the following:

I have tried EVERYTHING, and I can not get this to work on my iPad. Boo. =(
Disregard...I figured out what I was doing incorrectly.
I have also tried Calculator, Weather, Stocks, Voice Memo's and Compass. The only App to stay open is Compass, but the faceplate is missing. However, the reading from the compass itself is accurate. This is new. I'm sure we'll get all this working eventually....
