Anyone want a really cheap iPad stand and got an empty 50 DVD spindle that sits the iPad perfectly.
It's got 4 slots in the base that lets the iPad sit in and it sits against the middle spike to hold it up.
So, next time you finish that spindle of DVDs, don't throw it out, remove the outside lid and put your iPad there instead.
It's the LG DVD 50 spindle (Black) but I also have a 50 CD spindle (grey) that also looks like it will hold the iPad too but its full so I wont test it yet.
BTW, It can also hold the iPhone but it looks way too big for it.

How much is what?
Buy a 50 spindle of dvds or cds and when its empty use the base as the stand.
It'll cost whatever the spindle costs you. Here a spindle of 50 CDs or DVDs are about $15AUD

Here are 2 pics of it.
It sits perfectly as you can see.
BTW, I didn't cut it or anything, its already got the grooves.
Also the back also sits in the apple logo (As you can see in the 3rd pic)

Good idea. Unfortunately my spindle doesn't have those grooves...and I probably won't finish off that spindle for at least a couple of years seeing as the last time I burned a CD was like 6 months ago...maybe longer.
Still...with as cheap as they are it might be worth picking up another...

I have one of these CD spindles, and it works perfectly as a bedside stand for my iPad!
Thanks for the great idea.

I actually use it more than I use the actual iPad stand. I only use that one to charge it and I use this spindle one for everything else.
The only thing this one cant do is have it in portrait mode with the cable inserted but if you turn it upside down it works fine. Other than that 1 minor problem its a great stand. perfect angle for watching movies and even playing some games.
