i had this problem on my ipod and and after a little searching on youtube i found a fix.
i have done this on mine and can verify it works perfectly

this is for the "main script error" or "package download failed" errors in the installer

first i ssh'd into your ipod/iphone and do the terminal "thing" to it
*here is the video i used* it worked perfectly

then you can use boss tool to free up some space
*ive read that this is not nessesary & u should only do if you need/want to have the full memory of your ipod available for apps*
