Installer - remotepackages.plist

Recently, my installer stopped working. It just bounces me back to springboard when trying to run. I know before the suggestion was to have remotepackages.plist rebuilt. However, I am running 2.2 firmware and cannot find remotepackages.plist in var/mobile/Library or similarly suggested locations. I don't even see an Installer folder in those locations.

Has this changed for 2.2? I even re-installed Installer through Quickpwn with no luck. Should I just uninstall apps until it works or just start from scratch?

RemotePackages.plist - Gets generated every time the sources are refreshed. Contains all the packages available minus the packages already in your LocalPackages.plist.

Check in this directory.

/var/mobile/Library/Installer

In that case, something must have deleted that Installer folder or I'm not in the real /var/mobile/Library/ directory. I guess I will just uninstall Installer and deal without it.

If your installer works, just search installer on installer, and just re download it or delete it, then download it.
If its not working at all, reboot the phone if that doesnt work there maybe ways to do it through ssh, but if its not to much trouble for you, just restore, re-jailbreak.

Aha... I was able to fix my installer.

First of all, I checked on another freshly jailbroken 2.2 iphone and there is no Installer folder with remotepackages.plist on that one either. So then I did some more heavy searching. I found the solution in another thread on this forum:

http://www.modmyi.com/forums/install...crashes-2.html

The solution was to hold the lock button down while installer boots. Then cancel the lock screen. For some reason that allowed it to boot up. After that I stopped having the problem and then updated to v4 beta 11
