Installer

Hi, I'm very new to the iPhone mods that you can do, including installing applications. I'm not positive that this is the right forum to ask this question, but I'm confused by most of this stuff (although I'm not computer illiterate). I cannot for the life of me get the apptapp to install from my iPhone. When I go to the page and select install, I get a white screen that does nothing. I even gave it plenty of time to load.

Again, I'm really sorry if this isn't where this question belongs, I just don't know what category this would be under otherwise.

Thanks in advance

Moved thread to Installer Support.

To answer your question, it sounds to me like you may have discovered an old method of installing Installer that is now obsolete. You need to jailbreak your iPhone 3G using Quickpwn. During that process you may specify Installer and or Cydia to be installed . For a full array of apps, you need Cydia as the new Installer does not have nearly the number of choices.

Here is a tutorial:

So should I even bother with selecting Installer also?
Furthermore, the instructions say that I'm restoring my iPhone.. I'm not going to lose anything, am I?

(Sorry, I'm sure this is a pain, but I appreciate it.)

Yes but not much if you are not already jailbroken. If that is the case just sync your stuff in iTunes first. If you are already jailbroken see this:

As far as bothering with Installer, If I were you I'd Google around a bit and see if there are any apps that are on Installer that are not on Cydia. There arent many but perhaps something you may want. Most folks are not bothering with Installer. You can always decide to add Installer later.
