It appears that Cydia and Installer do not know what each has installed, because the uninstalls don't jive. Can they really co-exist if two different lists are maintained?

well untill we can easily add sources to cidya there no point in even arguing, ciydia is crippled without custom sources, to be open source it feels almost as locked down as apple

cydia rules. Bottom line. It just makes more sense.

it's kind of like mac vs windows. Windows being installer and mac being cydia. Macs better.

I have to say I really don't know and if it was up to me I would say installer. Because sources could be installed for more packages and sconce it was the "first" 3rd party app indtaller I like it. Cydia on the other hand is newer and has lots of great features like A-Z sxrolling and java but also needs some minor updates and adjustments like sources and more then it will be the best.

I think installer had a better lay out and honestly, I have got used to it. But I thought Nullriver arent gonna update their installer for 2.0 so... looks like I'm forced to use Cydia.

Cydia isnt that bad though... I'm getting the hang of it.

Installer 3: Buggy, ugly, no search, slow
Installer 4: Big, stupid layout that infuriates me
Cydia: open source, lean, fast, works

This Poll is not accurate any more because it's started long ago. So we should stop it and replace it with a new Poll. I'm sure many people will want to change the vote after tried the lastest Cydia and Installer 4.

IMO, i changed my mind from vote for Installer 4 to vote for Cydia. The problem of Cydia is fighting the trade mark "Installer". Most of the people who own the 1.1.x iPhone only know about the Installer, not Cydia. And it's hard to change the habbits of them, even when Cydia is more better than Installer (buggy, big, slow,..).

I've seen many people who love Cydia, and also a lot of people who swear only use Installer, and i realize the fact that most of the developers (or experience users) love Cydia, and most of the normal user love Installer. And because most of the Repo are for the common users, most of them decide to host Installer Repo, not Cydia Repo. Just if Cydia can have as many sources as Installer have, people will immigrate to Cydia.

Regards,
Hai

The amount of time it takes to respring after installing, well basically, anything from installer is just ridiculous.
