Because it's a beta, betas always will crash and until it's an official release, don't expect it to be completely stable.

They released it in it's beta stage because of wide public pressure. Installer 4 is not "crap"... it's B-E-T-A! You can expect bugs... crashes... constant updates.. etc. I see a lot less people saying "Cydia sucks.. .where's Installer?"

don't see any constant updates.... just the bugs and crashing. When cydia was beta i saw constant updates without the bugs and crashing.
cydia wins.

Installer 4 is crap, oh and by the way its also no longer needed or wanted. Cydia does it better and has a develeper that doesn't release trash, doesn't keep its end users in the dark for weeks. Face it theres no place for Installer on FW2.0,
My opinion and the opinion of a lot of othdr FW2.0, users.

use quickpwn to get cydia. That's the way I did it. I'm sure there's more.
besides Installer 4 is beta. It shouldn't be a surprise when beta programs crash. That's why they're beta...because they're still f$%#ed up.
Good luck.Blah

avoid installer
Jailbroken 2.1 original iPhone; with BossPrefs having moved fonts for more space; several pages of purchased apps, 2-3 installed via Cyndia.
Everything was fine for a few days, then wanted to see if anything was in Installer sources not listed in Cyndia. Just browsing in Installer led to a crash that forced iPhone into DFU mode!
I'd avoid installer like the plague.

I had a similar problem with installer, I did the same, opened it to see if there was anything new, When I tried to exit the program, I got a black screen with a spinning wheel. The iphone eventually froze and wouldnt start again. Thankfully I know the trick for getting it started without a restore.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

i guess everyone has the same problem with installer 4 cause what all you guys are saying i had experienced. The installer before i must admit was rocking until the 4 and if this installer does become stable it would own cydia i believe. I removed installer from my phone though and only use cydia atm cause installer has caused me to do numerous restores sadly to say.....
