What installer sources are ok?

I read a warning about installing sources to the installer, saying use at your own risk. I tried researching some but am stuck, what sources are good to install? How do you know if it is a "bad" source and what does that mean exactly?
The list of rouge installer sources on this site, are those all ok to install?
