Installing apps not listed on installer.app - easy question

Im having issues - I used ftp to copy the newest nes.app folder to the applications directory, but when I try to run it from the icon, i only get a gray screen for like 10 seconds and then it comes back to the springboard.

Before you say that installer.app already has NES.app its not the latest version.

Any help?
