I love the G4, the White one owns to. Aluminum as well...hard to decide.

Dude, I have to go with the G3 (slot loading of course). I received mine as payment for fixing some rich folks laptops (Seriously, all they needed to do was reinstall windows because the machines were beyond repair). They were like: "How much do we owe ya?" We just so happened to be in their basement, and I saw the dark blue beauty sitting in the back, under some junk. I asked em': "You guys want that mac?" and they were like: "Not really, we don't use it anymore since we forgot the logon password." Dude, it was awesome
. Sadly, we had to part ways last year due to space limitations in an apartment we were moving to. I had put Kubuntu on it, as I didn't want to pay for the newest version of OSX, and it had the Office suite I desired for free.
I still wish that I had it, but that's life, eh? Sometimes, the newest and greatest isn't the best yeah?And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream! Springboard screwy after reboot? Here is the fix

Indeed, the G4 is the superior in the iMac class. Got a 15 inch and a 17 inch G4 and just love them both.

The G4 is the most interesting looking, but as I sit here staring at my Aluminum (which you refer to as "current") I can say it is by far the best design yet. I've stared at all the iMacs on this desk though time and this one just blows them away in person.

G4 is ahead aesthetically, current for desktop real estate and performance...
