If you're running into problems when you use Absinthe, the best thing to do is to have a fresh restore of 5.1.1 on your device. This will help with some of the errors some of you may be getting. If you're having trouble installing from Cydia power cycle your device and try again.

I'm not sure then, just verify that you downloaded Absinthe 2.0.1 and are on IOS 5.1.1 (9B206) I had run it a few times and found it to finally run on a completely restored 5.1.1 (9B206) system. I then had to run a backup restore in iTunes to get my settings back. it only worked for me on a completely clean state, no restored settings installed. It was at the point of setting up as a new iPhone.

I hope this helps in some way, it took quite a few tries for me

Nevermind...my dumbass was attempting to upload the wrong version of the 9B206 file...attempting to use absinthe 2.0.1 now

One last question, how do you confirm you are on 9B206? Is it as simple as going into 'about' on settings?

Open iTunes. Put your device in DFU mode. Restore. Try and run Absinthe again.

Actually also I forgot to add, do a custom restore in DFU to firmware from iClarified (as stated before) to the 5.1.1 (X): iPhone3,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore.ipsw instead of the 5.1.1 (X): iPhone3,1_5.1.1_9B208_Restore.ipsw. Then try Absinthe.

If your Idevice is already currently jailbroken via redsn0w for 5.1.1 tethered (which is a pain in the *** but better than nothing) you do not need to download absinthe 2.0 simply go to cydia and search for "Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 untether" and install.
It's that easy no need for absinthe as the R.r. Has the apps coded in just install reboot and your good

check what version FW you are on , you may updated to 9B208.

Restore to 9B206 via itunes with shift restore and locate the correct FW version and retry JB. should work. had exact same problem yesterday.

    Default AptBackup
I used AptBackup, then backed-up on my iTunes. I followed the outlined steps to use Absinthe 2.0.1 Untethered JB to the letter and I'm now jb. I can't locate AptBackup. Please help.

Didnt want to start a thread for this because its probably obvious. But Im currently on 5.0.1 with an Iphone 4S that is jailbroken. If I want to upgrade to 5.1.1 do I have to first backup my settings, then update to 5.1.1 using iTunes... THEN use Rocky Racoon with Cydia? Is that gonna work because if I update to the Non-JB 5.1.1 wont Cydia be gone?

Doing a restore and then jailbreaking definitely is the best solution, and then restore from backup. Performed perfectly on my 3rd gen iPad, and it's SO nice to have My3G on it now!

Backup with iTunes. Then restore, that will update the iphone to 5.1.1. Then run absinthe 2.0.1.
