How to Jailbreak Using redsn0w 0.9.6 (Windows)

Here is what I have done. I did the jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.6rc19. I did not know about having to upgrade to the Ipad baseband. The redsnow 0.9.6rc19 did not give the upgrade to ipad baseband option. I downloaded Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 and unclicked Cydia and clicked install ipad baseband and battery level. It starts going through the prompts and will not finish. I have let it sit for an hour or more.

Version is too old. Use redsnow 0.9.6rc8 or rc17. If running redsnow on windows make sure to run redsnow in windows xp sp2 compatibility mode.

Yes you can. But you need to run it in windows xp compatibility mode. Right click on redsnow, select properties, choose compatibility tab and you will see the box to check to do it.

Iam new at this and have learen allot. Could you be kind enough to send me the file that will work properly. The redsnow 0.9.6rc19 when i right click and choose properties does not give me that option. You know your stuff. Could you send me the correct file?

There is nothing we can send you. You need to do it yourself. The option is there.

I am getting a message from windows when I try to jailbreak after entering the DFU mode...... redsn0w.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I am not able to figure out how to continue. I am running 5.0.1 on I phone 4 with windows on the computer.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have iPhone 3G running on T Mobile.
Version 3.2.1 (7D11)
Modem Firmware 05.11.07
It is unlocked and Jailbroken.
As you can see firmware is kind of outdated. And I was going to upgrade and unlock it. So, my question is: Can I do it, does it worth it, if so how should I do that? Maybe you can give me link to step-by-step guide.
I have two files: "green.exe" and "iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore" I don't know if it will be helpful in my case.

No idea what green.exe is. And that firmware you have is for a 3GS not a 3G. iPhone 3G firmware starts iPhone1,2.

If you want to go to 4.2.1 make a custom firmware with pwnage tool or snowbreeze and restore to that in iTunes to preserve your baseband.

Actually I don't want to upgrade to 4.2.1 but it looks like I have to, because some apps require firmware 4. So, the longer I stay on version 3 firmware the less my iPhone is useful. Maybe you have some suggestions to what firmware I should upgrade it and then unlock it with less problems?
