I would love to try it, use an iron, some dandy good super thin heat resistant string, some glue stuff and a pressure cooker. If it gets pulled off, it would be cool, but wherecan one work dust free? Not in MY livingroom! I've got a fireplace and three kids. Anybody know what can be used as the string? Will fishingline and a hairdryer work?
Throw me a bone here, and let's see where this goes.
Yes, i am trying to think outside the box.

Do you know where you can find good OEM screens for the iphone 5 that aren't going to break your wallet?

Currently working on this right now . I bought a broken iPhone 5 the other day so I thought if give it a shot . I used a heat gun and my isesamo to remove the shattered glass. Then used isopropyl alcohol to remove the adhesive. The thing is, the screen was super shattered (very fine small pieces of glass were left behind). Removing the glass lens is super easy . It's removing the adhesive that is tough . Because of the fine glass that was left behind I there is a bunch of tiny scratches left on the LCD . The LCD and digitizer still work and the scratches are barely noticeable when the phone is on . I'm waiting on my glass lens to come in . I ordered a few coloured ones for about 3$ a piece . Ill be using UV touchscreen adhesive to Bond the glass lens to the LCD/digitizer . Shouldn't e any risk of dust getting in. I hope to have this complete in about a week or so . I'm going to post a thread when I'm done . !

I feel that if you have a screen with a clean break (little to no shards) it can be done for sure . It beats buying a 200$ LCD unit anyways

I have "successfully" removed the glass from the lcd before. However, the LCD was already damaged so it was more of a "see how hard it is" as opposed to actually repairing one. As for the touchscreen adhesive, I found a supplier with it. Now I just need to get my hands on a few broken screens to try it out with a working LCD.

Have any of you guys removed the glass lens with a scratch free lcd? mine has lots of small scratches but apparently the adhesive hides these once it is cured. Mind sharing the supplier that has the glue, send me a pm

This looks like a lot more work than its worth for iPhone 4/4S screens... i guess if the glass is still fairly intact it would be worth it for the iphone 5 given the high cost of replacements.

Got the glass off another LCD today. Got the glue off pretty well. Now at a standstill cus I ordered the glass/frame but the LCD isn't secure enough and when you push on the glass hard enough you can see the little water-type mark it makes. Need that optical glue!!

Well I just ordered some adhesive. It was a bit more expensive than I wanted to pay (us reseller) but I want it faster than usual. I went ahead and broke the screen on my 5 friday night. It's been a rough week for my poor iPhones.
