Replacing iphone 4 CDMA screen and backplate won't fit?
I have completed the screen replacement installation on my iphone 4. I am trying to put the back plate on, but the battery appears to stick to far out from the phone (possibly morphed?, but it looks like any other battery). To put the back plate on I would have to force it on (bending around the battery) and possibly putting too much strain on the newly replaced screen and damaging it. Is it supposed to be like this? I think this is how I damaged the replacement before this. Is this unheard of? What would you do? Should I buy a replacement battery? Thanks.

No it shouldn't be difficult to slide the backplate back on. It should be just as easy as it was when you took it off. Where did you buy your parts from. The parts might not be of grade A quality and can be out of proportion. If that is not the case, it may be the way you reassembled it. Something must not be sitting right. It could also be the battery, are you sure it didn't explode? If it is still nice and flat/slim then it's not the battery that's causing the problem. Like iRevival said, a picture would help.

If the battery is bent out of shape (like a U I guess) the put it on a table and flatten it out. If the battery has expanded (where the top and bottom are starting to get bigger) then take it out right now and get it away from your iPhone and order a new one. Other than that, is the back a replacement as well? Or the original? If it is a replacement you may have gotten a GSM back accidentally which is why it is not fitting. If it is the original then something isn't in there right.

Thanks for the responses. It is the original back. The battery does appear to stick out beyond the rest of the board. I have uploaded a few pictures in the link below. Thanks again.

Oh wow. Unless there's something under the battery get it out of there. Definitely looks like it is swelling up. If replace that with a new one.

Battery has expanded. Definitely get a new one. They're only couple bucks so it won't be that bad.

+1. The battery is swelling. It is reaching up higher than it should. It should be nice and flat, it looks a bit bulged as well as sitting up higher than normal.
