spilled a little water on my phone. what to do?

i left my phone near my sink and some water got into it.
i looked at the screen when it was on and notice some water damage around the corners.
i immediately took off the back plate and powered down the phone.
right now i placed it into a plastic bag with some silica gel packets.
should i leave it like that or should i buy new silica gel that isn't in packets and put the phone into that?
is rice a better choice?

I prefer the packets. Easier clean up. Rice is good but messy so just stick with those. Leave it in there overnight at the least. Patience is key here lol.

thanks. i just checked my phone this morning. alot of the screen cleared up. still one corner with noticeable damage.
how long until i have to change out the packets though?
