    Default Best Tool Set
Im using a make shift tool set for repairing iPhones but I was wondering if you guys were on a Deserted Island and couldn't leave till you fixed 100 cracked screens ...what would be the tools of choice...links to buy would be greatly appreciated

I've been using a set that ifixdirect sent me after I bought a few parts from them. Nothing special but I like them.

Never leave home without it. And a few screens too.

I've got 1 pentalobe, 1 Philips, 1 flat head, 2 plastic spudgers, 1 metal spudger, 1 sim tray key, 2 screen cleaning cloths, 1 suction cup, 1 plastic tweezer, 1 metal tweezers, 1 isesamo, 2 plastic safe open tools, 1 metal pry tool and 2 guitar picks ... I think thats it lol. put the whole kit together myself after about a year of working with iPhones. If I add a t5 and t6 screwdriver then I could do most phone but they aren't really necessary since most smartphones need to be heated with a heat gun to be taken apart properly. All that other stuff is at my office.

Was never able to find one that didn't have a bunch of tools that were useless to me. I'm also not a fan of the interchangeable heads, I like separate screwdrivers. I thought about putting together the kit to resell on my site but I never took it that far. Still in the back of my mind though.

Good price for a base toolkit with some good quality tools. The other ones are what you can get by with, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend them.

Yeah I bought one a few weeks ago to try out. They are really convenient, just dont hit them because all the screws will pop out. It's just a plastic board with holes for the screws to lay inside. If it were magnetic it would be much better.

They make light magnetic mats that work 10X better than the plastic holders they are cheap like 5 bucks id recommend getting one of those.

Yeah I've been thinking about just gluing a magnetic sheet to the bottom of the plastic tray. It'd be the ultimate screw holder then lol.

Wow, I can't believe they even sell kits without magnetic screwdrivers anymore. I'd never be able to do it. My first few phones were done without magnetic screwdrivers and they were a nightmare. I'm talking hours to finish a phone instead of 15-20 minutes. Terrible stuff.

To magnetize a screwdriver, take a magnet, easy to find around the house, and run it along the screwdriver from the handle end to the tip. Do it a couple of times to enhance the strength to what you want. This will lasts months, and is simple to reverse in an instant if you need to.

Yup I have a magnetic brick that is made for just that. Got to be careful to powerful and you can ruin the logic board
