Default iPhone 4 has no display but still works :(
One of my Iphone 4's lost its display today. The backlight works, but nothing comes up on the display. The phone is unlocked and jailbroken, and has been for a long time. Phone still receives calls, and Siri works. Is there anything else I can try, or should I just try and get it replaced? Got the phone in November. Just hate to lose everything and start over.

You can always back it up in iTunes to keep your data save.

Also you can contact COWBOY in the hardware section, he can probably fix it and give you a good price too.

if its unlocked and jailbroken they wont take it back/will charge you for the replacement when they see it is. However, I feel like a restore would fix this issue anyway. Back it up and restore as a new phone, if it doesn't work you can take it in for replacement without any worries. If it does work there was something wrong with the jailbreak or one of the packages you installed.

I'm not quite sure a restore will fix this

It seems more like a worn hardware component maybe a connector or something else on the screen or logic board

    But I guess a restore shouldn't hurt

Thanks guys. I am pretty sure I can restore it. My wife drop it shortly before the issue, but it was a waist high drop, in an Otterbox. I dont use itunes a lot, seems like last time I tried to backup contacts, and pics, I couldn't figure it out.

just seems strange. especially on a 4S. They are too new to have issues like this arising, unless you have a really unlucky 4S. although you definitely can't rule out a faulty part.

edit: just noticed this is happening on a 4. Could definitely be a part malfunctioning because it is older. Although I do still think it would be rare.

Remember just because something is new doesn't mean it's fail-safe

You can always have faulty components with new electronics as well

It could be a dead LCD, i would sugest purchasing a new one,

if that fails its more serious (possible connector) but don't worry about that for now,

Screens are quite cheap, and its not hard to replace yourself if you're patient and follow a guide.

    Parts Supply :
    iPhone4 screen & LCD

Or PM Cowboy for a screen etc.

And here is a guide on how to do it :
    Video Repair Guide

    Regards,
    Joshua Myles.
Hit the thanks button if i helped in anyway

Yeah, I have done total disassembly and parts replacements on 2G, 3G, and 3GS, but haven't been in a 4 or 4S yet. Wish I could open it up and see if its just a connection issue, but then I wouldn't be able to take it back. Should be able to get a replacement once I update and restore. Haven't checked the jailbreak section in awhile to see if we have an untethered jailbreak for the newest ios yet.

We do and it is quite simple. Absinthe 2.0.4 I believe is the newest version.

Restore did nothing for me, except give me a fresh phone with 5.1.1, that I can at least take back to Apple and get it replaced. I am still under a year, and it has no damage. Been in the Otterbox since day 1, looks brand new still. So, hopefully after work I can swap it. May even see if there is any way to bump up to a 4S and pay the difference.
