Problems after replacing the screen on my 3GS

Hi all, newbie here, and I'm really tearing my hair out! I have replaced my cracked digitizer on my 3GS, but now when I turn on my phone all I get is a white screen, that turns off after roughly 10 seconds, if I press the sleep button the white screen comes up again for about 10 seconds. I have broken the connector (with the white grip switch) for connection number 3, but as I understand it this is only for the earphone speaker, so this wouldn't effect me having a white screen would it? I have checked all of my connections again and am now just really stuck.

I forgot to add, I have tried resetting the phone manually (by pressing sleep and home buttons) and via itunes, neither has worked.

What part of the connector did you break? The white part, or the tape?

Just the white part, so the ribbon will not connect into anything.
