I just picked up a used non working i4 off a buddy of mine, back of the phone was shattered and he says it won't turn on. Upon inspection I noticed both inside sensor are pink so it's obvious it got wet somehow.
The phone powers on and seems to be working only to get stuck at the Apple logo and then the spiral circle starts spinning and eventually freezes in place. From here the phone is totally unresponsive and only way to get it back off is to pull the battery connector.
The logic board don't APPEAR to have been touched by water but the sensors tell a different story. Any way to tell 100% its the logic board minus of swapping in my working one and possibly doing damage to it??
It won't do anything. I get the apple logo, then it goes to the spinning for about 2 seconds, then it's stuck frozen and won't respond to anything at all, hard resets nothing..I noticed after a minute or 2 of being frozen, the circle will make 1 full rotation like its gonna load up and sits there frozen again. And then repeat.
Set it into recovery mode and see if iTunes will detect it and allow a restore. To do so, when the phone is ON, hold the home and power button until the screen goes black. At that point release the power button but continue to hold home button until you get the iTunes+USB screen on the phone.
Well I think the home button is broken on the phone..I swapped the board into my working 4 and got the same spinning wheel as before, got it in dfu and it seems to be taking the restore in iTunes. Hopefully it works and I can swap the board back into the damaged phone, at least it'll work for now and I can tackle the home button another time
Well it worked! Everything seems to be working except the home button just like I thought.
Now i'm thinking about doing a full white conversion since the entire phone basically needs to come apart to fix the button, plus the power/lock button is sunk into the phone a little and is a pain to press.
