Completely Shattered iPhone 4S (How to fix? Only screen replacement?)
My friend handed me her iPhone 4S so I can fix it for her however, I'm not entirely sure if it is ONLY the screen. The phone does indeed turn on, sound works, vibration works, power button and home button works. HOWEVER, the screen DOES NOT SHOW ANYTHING except for the cracks being lit up. In addition to not being able to see anything on the screen, whenever plugging the iPhone into the wall/computer it consistently makes the "beep" noise such as when you plug in your device for charging/computer. The good news is that the iPhone is recognized in iTunes!
Now my question is that, is this a screen replacement only or other parts are necessary to fix this issue? I had my friend order a screen replacement and is awaiting for the arrival of the kit. I'm just curious as if that would just resolve my problem.
Here's the picture of what it looks like! The back and sides are completely flawless, this phone was only a week old!
P.S. She did not buy AppleCare. :P

100% needs a new screen,
might need a new charging port cause of the sound its making, definitely worth a closer inspection inside

From your description the charging port and everything seems to be OK except for the Front Screen Assembly. Just Fix it with the Front Screen Assembly that comes in the Kit and that should be all that is necessary.

I successfully installed the LCD back on and it worked perfectly until 5 minutes later when it started flickering and fading in and out that's when I knew it was either the hardware being damage internally or I bent the LCD cable when fishing it through the holes. Anyways, I took it to an Apple Store and I told them it was a hardware defect and they ended up getting my friend a BRAND new sealed iPhone 4S. They were like "whao, why is there no speaker grill?" (I forgot to install the grill, it was really unnoticeable until I went inside the Apple Store). They're like, this is probably a 3rd party LCD but it doesn't matter since does not void your warranty. (Which is odd because opening up your iPhone voids the warranty already doesn't it?)

Apple does seem generous right now. I am glad to see that, as customer care should be the most important thing. Good for apple, and great for the customer!

Yeah, I also opened my girlfriend's iPhone 4 and tried to switch the front plates and back plates to white with white OEM parts. I somehow fractured in internal of the screen and they went ahead and also gave my girlfriend a brand new replacement phone. This happened 2 days right after the iPhone 4S got replaced. Apple is really nice now. Haha~
