My Iphone 3GS speaker isn't working?

My iphone 3GS speaker isn't working, its only working if the cable that connects from the computer to the phone is half way in or plugged in fully. The headphone jack is working, and so is everything else, but its just the speaker that isn't. And it just stopped working, out of the blue.I cant hear ring tones or hear any audio unless the phone is plugged into the computer. Yes, i've checked the silent button, and the phone is on loud. What can I do? Is there any way to solve this? Is it a hardware problem? Anything you know please tell me, thanks!!!

Are you talking about your hear speaker or the speaker on the bottom of the phone?

I think he means the speaker at the bottom side of the iPhone. It's probably a damaged cable or something of that sort. Connector 4 needs to be replaced...
