iPhone 4 - Sleep/Power Button Died
So yesterday, I noticed my sleep/power button on my iPhone 4 lost it's spring/click. It's limp and useless. I took it to Apple, and they want $150 for a replacement because it's 4 months out of warranty (bought it on day 1).
Googling the problem, it seems a 1mm orange nub under the metal button that's attached to the ribbon is the culprit. Apparently, after normal use, it can sometimes get of track and the orange nub gets messed up.
Someone had success ordering this: http://www.ebay.com/...#ht_2744wt_1163
Using iFixit's tutorials, I have to open the phone up, remove every single screw on the phone, remove the logic board, remove the ribbon and then replace everything.
Does anyone have any experience doing this and suggestions/better walkthrough? I'm scared it'll break and be even more useless. The phone was in PERFECT condition until this happened.
ALSO, does anyone know of a way to put the phone in DFU mode without a sleep button? Thanks for the insight!

That's not the point of Pwned DFU Mode.... that mode is for restoring to a custom firmware, and still requires you to put it into DFU mode using the sleep button.

Tiny Umbrella, and put into recovery. I know, not the same, but in a pinch...

What do you need dfu for? I can get you into dfu without a power button but the only thing you'll be able to do with it is restore it. There used to be an app floating around that would get you into dfu without the button presses but it hasn't worked for awhile now. If it was possible the jailbreak apps wouldn't have you do the button presses to get into dfu.

My lock button is limp as well. It works, but i have to press hard as hell. Settings < general < accessibility < assistive touch. This creates a little box that you can move. When you press it go to device, lock, to lock your phone. This is what I did.
