What part do I need? I believe water damage screen...
Greetings,
My mother's iPhone is messed up and she is not entirely sure how, but she upgraded and gave me her old one to fix/sell.
The screen is very "bright" and fuzzy looking, with the iPhone graphics in the background but still having color just almost like a layer of bright fuzz on top of the actual graphics.
I believe the LCD is needing to be replaced, but wanted to check with someone on here before I just go order parts as someone may have more knowledge than I.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
P.S. It is an iPhone 3G

I could actually use some help... I am looking these up on eBay and coming across "LCD Replacement Touch Screen Digitizer" as well as just a glass screen... I assume I need the LCD Replacement Touch Screen Digitizer.
Is this correct or is there more I would need for this to be accurate?

I purchased the new one, I did the install, but it seems to have no effect on the screen, it is still the exact same as it was before. Any further suggestions?

For some odd reason I cannot do a restore through iTunes.
"The iPhone "Name" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build."
I am trying to do it with the newest version of iTunes on the newest Macbook Air with Lion.
The iPhone is a 3G 4.2.1 (8C148) / 5.15.04
I was able to do a restore of settings from within the iPhone itself but nothing when connected to my Macbook Air.

Make sure and clean your connector with some ipa and the start your phone back up. The oil from your fingers can cause a bad connection

I am not sure what IPA is (unless you mean some Indian Pale Ale, but I am sure this would damage it even more).
I tried with a 2nd USB cord on a 2nd computer. No luck.

Isopropyl alcohol it will not damage it. It removes corrosion I use it all day long on phones....make sure it's 95% that's what I use

I would try and pull the main board remove all chipset covers and give it a good scrubbing with ipa and a toothbrush. Let it dry and try again. And if that doesn't work...sell it as is....
