iPhone wifi doesn't work more than 5 feet away?
My 3GS doesnt work 3-5 feet from wifi point of access
What could be the problem?
It works but only 5 feet from router max

I assume other devices work on the wifi normally?

check the wifi ribbon cable is a the top of the mainboard the number 5 cable just de attach and reatach if not you need a new anthenna it cost around 6 buck in ebay

I agree with hectbp, except it is number 6 cable. Also make sure the iPhone 3GS is OFF before working on it.
