Question about the after-market iphone 4 colored glass

What is the mesh looking holes above the iphone 4 speaker hole for? In after-market colored glass their is a speaker hole and then mesh holes above that formed into the glass.... reason??

you sell parts and do repairs but you dont know what the mess holes are for.............. the mess holes are for the prox. sensor......reason why you dont see them on the black is because on the black its tinted a purple shade.......and yes I repair phones for a living.....actually own a large retail/repair store

That's what I figured but you would think the after-market screens would have a better design than that. I guess they went the cheap easy route.

All front screens are like that, there is no easy route. The Proximity Sensor has to receive input through these holes. You can use a Sharpie pen to darken them, but do it right or you will block the sensor. You can transfer the Original film from your screen, but it may look worse depending on the color of the sceen you are installing.

No no, I know they were proximity sensor, I was saying i don't know why they're visible on colour parts. Bad wording on my part.

I do my repairs to a very high standard and like to think I know quite a bit about my field.

I think you miss understood my response. When I stated they took the cheap easy route, I meant the after-market screens are not like the factory. The factory screens are flush and hide the sensors. The after-market makes it obvious that they are there.
