Can't hear out of earpiece. Please Help.
I have and iPhone 3G. I cannot hear through my earpiece at all. I can hear fine through speakerphone or through headphones or bluetooth.
I have done the following to try and fix:
1. Checked #3 cable.
2. Re-jailbroke, and set up as New in itunes.
3. Replaced the digitizer.
4. plugged and unplugged headphones multiple times.
nothing has worked as of yet.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

Yes the proximity works fine, so does speakerphone and headphones. its just the earpiece. When someone calls, or if I call, I can't hear through earpiece.

nope. Could it be a jailbreak issue? It worked fine before. My LCD screen went out, and I had to replace it. And when I JB it again, my earpiece wasn't working.

Did you try replacing with a new pre assembled front unit, instead of just a digitiser?
could be just a bad quality part.

The several 3g iPhones with no ear speaker function that I have repaired have all been damaged flex cable #3. Some have perfect proximity function, some both speaker and proximity are out. But all have been due to bad flex cable #3. It is a simple fix that can be done leaving the digitizer and LCD on the mid-frame. You need to get a new cable #3 however. Flex #3 is very fragile, you have to be very careful with it.
Good luck,
Brad

I'll try that. I have an extra #3 cable. I was having issues with my proximity before, I replaced the digitizer and it repaired it. The ear piece was working fine. It's just now that its not. Thanks Everyone.
