Iphone 3g New battery problem

hey thanks for checkin out my post i have a little problem
i installed a new batter in my iphone 3g becuz the old one would give about one hour of use. so i installed it check all the cables and everyything was good
i tried to turn it on and it only shows apple logo then turns off
so ikept it in charge for an hour and no change
i put itin dfu and redsnow reckognized it and jailbreaked it but it still does not turn on

i hope i just need to charge it more becasue its a brand new battery

I had a similar problem.
It turned out to be a bad new battery (I bought the bad battery for e few $ on eBay). Bought yet a an other one and the phone has been fine ever since.

Just a guess.
