Okay that is an entirely different issue then. Check for tears near your #4 ribbon. There is one ribbon going from the black speaker housing to the actual #4 ribbon. If there is a tear in that, you have no speaker at the bottom. Replace either the dock, or the individual speaker by way of soldering. So I checked the #4 connector and I posted 2 pics of what it looks like. To me, it seems like there is no damage but perhaps you see something different. Let me know. Thanks.

P.S. I'm completely up for thanking people...just curious...what does thanking them via the "thank" button do?

Hey Maurice, hard to see but I don't see any damage to your speaker ribbon. A quick fix would be to try swapping the dock assembly. It just could be that your speaker just went out. Could be anything really, liquid, shock, temp, etc.

Do you mean the connector for the #4 ribbon Westerman? Or just the otherside of the board? Krazy...would it be easier to replace the speaker?

Not really since the speaker is soldered to the dock assembly ribbon. Its easier to replace the entire thing as a whole.

Yea report back once it is in. Remember, the entire board is removed to get access to it, dont force anything.

    Krazy,

Just got finished with the install. Everything went fine except for 1 detail! The camera won't work now...the wire for it is kinda crammed in there and i think i may have damaged it during the install. Any hints?

You probably just tore the camera ribbon, just pick up a new one and install it.

On order as we speak...any special technique for getting that camera ribbon to fold politely when I am re-installing the motherboard?

Not really, just put the board in first then push down on the camera to get it to seat.

    Krazy,

I got the part and did the install. Now her screen won't turn on. Is that the #3 connector now? I used my screen on her phone and everything worked fine. The camera still didn't work however. Is there a reset for the camera or something? What do i need to do to fix the screen issue now? Thanks.

Maurice, you're only causing more issues by experimenting with these repairs. You may have shorted something out with swapping of the screens. Please just give it to someone to take a look at for you. The camera should work like normal if you install it correctly. The #3 is unrelated to it. DO NOT remove/install the screen while the phone is on. Make sure they are OFF.

So you think I need a whole new screen now? My screen installed on her phone works perfectly!

I'm tight on $ so this is the reason why I am fixing it myself. I ordered a new LCD...any other thoughts please? Thanks!
