Mic doesn't work on Facetime?

I have an iPhone 4 that when you are talking on the phone itself works just fine, if you put it on "speakerphone" to the other person it sounds like you are very far away from the mic & on facetime people say they can't hear me at all. Doesn't make any sense to me, there is only one mic in the phone I believe, why would i work fine with in one mode and not the other... Anybody heard of this or have any suggestions?

Update: Turns out there "is" a second mic on the iPhone 4. It is located next to the headphone jack (that tiny hole)...who knew??? Something had obviously gotten in there because a little shot from the air can and it is working fine now.
