Iphone 4 ear speaker
My dad came to me a few days ago and said he spilled coffee on his phone, the phone is in an otterbox defender case. He said after that happened the phone got extremely muffled. Not broken up but super quiet even when the volume is maxed out. So quiet you cant use it like that. He asked me to replace the speaker so I took the whole phone apart and put a new one in it. That actually did nothing for it, still sounds the same! Any ideas whats up? I didn't see any liquid in the phone when I took it down. I'm pretty sure that that ruined any sort of warranty with apple as well.

Weird that it is still low after changing it. Maybe the silver grating is blocked up.

Thanks, I will give that a shot. I didn't even think to check the screen. I figured maybe it was an amplifier or something.

Yeah hopefully its that and a simple fix use high 90%+ alcohol to clean it with.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Do you think I should tear the phone all the way down to clean it or just try with a cue-tip and alcohol from the outside?

I would try that first before going in and undoing 50 screws.

It did not help at all. He has been using a blue-tooth headset since. I'm not sure what it could be.
