Vibrate switch broke off...

How much do you think it will cost for a repair? Its annoying to have to use my nail all the time.
Also, you think they will replace your back housing and bezel for a price or will they just not do it period? Wonder how much that would cost for an OEM replacement housing...

IDK by heart but you can call 1-800-APPLE and ask them there...

:/ i know how to call Apple I was just hoping to get some answers from people with experience so I wouldnt have to call and ask cuz usually you get mixed answers from different reps. I just wanted to know experiences by people who have some knowledge of this topic.
I was gonna call and ask after getting some feedback from others so I had some knowledge of what I should be expecting.

Doubtful it will get replaced. Its something you broke and you are out of warranty. Might be worth a shot though you never know.Have they released the jailbreak in the app store yet?

Yeah I know, i was just wondering how much it would cost and if it is worth it to spend the money or just deal with it.

Hi, I tried to avoid even touching that switch on the 3G but they have to take the entire phone apart to repair/replace the switch and remove the ribbon to access that area. I would try to ask at the genuis bar.

Costs $199 for out of warranty repairs, regardless of what the repair is. Sucks...

Sell it and buy an iPhone 4.

Umm no I'd rather not pay $175 extra for terminating with T-Mobile right now. Oh well, screw the switch.

I know. I just am not ready to open up my phone and replace it mysekf cuz I know to get to the switch I essentially have to disassemble most of the phone first. Maybe one day Ill buy a broken iPhone and open it up to experiment with and try to fix. But until then Im sure someone will still buy an iPhone 3G even with a broken off switch :P

Looks like about 45 or 50 bucks to have it done, about 8 bucks if you do it yourself.

Like I said, i dont dare to open the phone myself. Im upgrading to the 4 in a couple months and just wanted to sell this phone in a better condition. I dont mind lowering my sale price cuz of the broken off switch, but im not gonna go spend $45 on it. Thanks for the info though.

Oh, we're talking about the phone's vibrator Totally on the wrong page when I read the title.

It is fairly easy to do yourself but I caused a camera problem putting it back together. I'm not sure if the camera became detached from the motherboard or what.
If it is stuck on ring you could use a silent ringtone and silence the other options to achieve a "silent" mode.
