Thread: 3g Proximity sensor

    Default 3g Proximity sensor
Well I cracked my glass and everything still worked but the crack was getting on my nerves. So I ordered a new glass from ebay and installed it last night, everything went perfectly during the install. When I went to make a call this morning I noticed that the screen wasnt locking, therefore my guess is the proximity sensor is malfunctioning. Any ideas what is wrong with it? Did I not put someting back right, ro is it just cheap chinese glass? Thanks in advance.

You more than likely damaged the #3 ribbon or the connector. The connector would damage if you can visibly see any breakage or misaligned pins. The ribbon however, can be damaged with no visible signs.

Ill have to check the connection of the nubmer 3 ribbon. I wasnt sure if I insterted it far enough that could be the problem. I thought it was the the number 1 ribbon that controlled the proximity sensor. Ill have to chec and post back.

Look for a white line on the ribbon if you have it. It should be about 1-2mm away from the top of the connector. If you dont, then insert the ribbon in at least 3/4 of the way in.

Try hitting restore defaults under the settings. Works for the iPhone 4. =)
