03-30-2010, 03:21 PM #13g stopped working after repair. help me diagnose plz!
i replaced the screen and lcd of a 3g that worked like 2 weeks prior (i plugged my screen/lcd in it to make sure the phone worked). now after the repair the phone turned on for a minute and then just shut down. i thought it was a problem with the lcd, but the phone wont even show up in my itunes. any ideas what to check out? i have a backup 3g that i can swap parts with to help me figure this out.

If a known working LCD doesn't work, then check deeper. Could be you zapped the motherboard. Check those cables carefully.

ok, so i swapped my lcd/touchscreen bracket with this one off the broken phone, and it didnt work on my good phone. so i swap them back and now both phones are doing the same thing. no response to anything, wont charge, wont show up in itunes. i was JUST using my phone before i swapped screens. this is bizarre what the heck is going on? I have plenty of experience with replacing parts on these things, i cant figure out what the heck i did to make them crap out like this.

Beats me. I hope that now, both LCD's aren't damaged.
Let us know how it turns out.

OK, so I've heard that a cheap replacement lcd can have smaller pins than normal which may cause your motherboard to short out. Can anyone verify this, or maybe have any idea as to the validity of this?
