Hey guys basically ive got an iPhone 3g and i dropped it and now theyres a small crack on the glass , i know this is cheap and easy to replace the glass with digitizer , but with my luck the home button is'nt working now , well its working , but its intermediate.
So i did some reasearching and found this on eBay GENUINE APPLE HOME BUTTON FLEX CABLE FOR iPHONE 3G UK on eBay (end time 13-Apr-10 14:06:55 BST)
I just wanted to know if its easy to replace this with my old flex cable and how do i fi tthis in ? and where is the flex cable ? is it on the digitizer/LCD frame ??
Thanks - And ill appreciate all the help i can get

Its not working because its not seated properly...the cable is fine.
But if you wanna replace the whole button its easy, however you have to pull the glass/digitizer back off of the screen frame on the bottom (without breaking anything). Then it pulls out through the top.

so is the flex cable and home button on the digitizer for the iphone 3g ? like the glass / lcd bracket part , because if its near the motherboard i dont want to replace it because that would be too risky for me but the lcd / glass bracket i dont mind
Thanks - Shuaib

The home button is on the bottom, it doesnt have a flex cable that actually connects to the mainboard, it "touches" the dock assembly when the phone is closed up and thats how it works.
So, if the screen assembly isnt seated just right in the phone then it wont touch the dock assembly and make contact.

Check closely and make sure both the small spring loaded tabs that make the home button connection to the dock connector are still attached to the digitizer frame. I had one snap off on my phone. Just a thought

I was able to apply a small bead of solder in place of the tab and it works perfectly
