iphone 2G, steel bezel glue

hi guys,

i had a invisible shield screen protector on my iphone, but lately its been coming off and looking orange. so i decided to take it off, along with the screen protector it took off a strip of black glue that was in the crack between the glass and the chrome bezel. now there is a gap there.

Im worried that the glass might start popping out now, anyone know what i can put in the crack? any ideas. its above the earpiece.

It is not glue! It is a rubber seal to keep dirt and moisture out. There is a lot more involved holding that display in place. It is not falling out. There are 6 clips and multiple cables holding it in place.

what can i use to reseal?

You can simply use rubber cement or a latex caulk.

hey Melech this is kinda random but I'm doin a housing swap and I'm having trouble getting the battery un-glued from the housing....i think I could get it but I'm scared to puncture the battery or break something....any suggestions?

I just used the plastic pry tool and gently pried the battery around the sides and it came out.

^Exactly what you need to do to ensure you do not damage the battery

haha i don't even have the case opener tool...but I used a flat-head screwdriver and couldn't get it

If you puncture the battery you will have to toss it

yea..i know.....had a lot of experience with that with making psp Pandora batteries ....did you know that they can start fires too which is why i wanna be REALLY careful..... guess I might have to get a case opener tool

You could just software modded the PSP batteries. I used to do a lot of PSP repairs and custom led mods/case mods.

yea...but you need 2 psps for that and one has to already be software unlocked......as I understand it...for slim psp's on 6.xx firmware...i think

Back on topic,I had purchased a 2G with glass that was cracked not necessarily falling out and I got an invisibile shield too and installed and it completely filled the crack (deep scratch) and looks flawless. My issues has always been carefully removing the film if not messing with it at all. My advice.
