iPhone 3G 8gb backlight issues ?

Hi all,

First excuses for my english, i am from Holland.
I have recently bought two iPhones 3G 8gb AT&T
version. Both the phones have on top of the
display (left above the battery indicator) a
little line of white backlight.
You have to hold the phone horizontal to see it
(in fact it seems to be under the black surrounding
of the screen).
It looks like a little bit of backlight ?

Is this a common thing with iPhones ?
They both have it ?
