12-24-2009, 02:35 PM #1iPhone 3G does not turn on after changing Battery
I posted my problem in this thread but making my own in hope of getting faster assistance.
I just changed my iphone 3g's battery and I'm now having problems with my iphone, it does not turn on.
When I keep my finger on the sleep/wake button, the Apple logo appears, stays there for a few seconds, and then it shuts down.
I've tried resetting the iPhone, the Apple logo appears and then same thing, the iPhone shuts down.
If it makes a difference, my iPhone was jailbreaked using BlackRa1n (firmware 3.1.2)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you attempted to DFU mode restore the phone?

I'm not sure if it's worth mentioning, but the Apple logo only appears if the iPhone is being charged. When the phone's not charging, the LCD kind of just "flashes" and stays black.

I guess it was a faulty battery after all, all this trouble for nothing, I'm going to have a word or two with the person who sold it to me on eBay
Unless there's a special procedure to follow when installing a new battery?
Anyways, thanks a lot buddy

the seller was e_cell, here's the auction
It might have just been bad luck, this guy has sold hundreds of batteries and I all his feedbacks for that battery were positive.. I'll try to get a replacement, thanks again man

Oh DUDE! This is my same problem too!!!! Thanks so much for posting this!!!
I modded my iPhone and was very careful. I put in an 1800 mah battery from the very same people - Ecell on eBay. Got the very same results on my phone!
Problem is, my old battery was so dead I tossed it. But I have another on order (not from Ecell).
I'm feeling so hopeful now. I'm so glad I found this post!
Here's my mod by the way:
Damn Ecell. Gonna go write a very negative review right now.
Unless .... have you had any luck getting a replacement battery?

Jmbeaver - Your housing looks great from what I can see in the picture. Did you buy new buttons to install in your modded housing? (volume, silent/ring/vibe etc.)
Now how about the chrome bezel--new? How did you apply it to the back housing? Where did u apply the glue and what type of glue?

Everything here was original. I painted my mute button and sim tray to match.
Some people suggest using crazy glue or super glue. That's the worst advice I see on this forum. I used Hammerhead Omni-Stick. It gives you some time to work and doesn't dry so instantly and so hard. I'm no expert on glues but I do know that super glue is a bad choice.

Just want to follow up -
I got a new battery in and swapped it out. iPhone works perfect now.
So, I hope our two similar experiences help someone.

I had this same problem, and it cost just as much to ship back to them as it does to order a battery... well almost, so I would just stay away from them anymore I have 2 others ordered from different sellers hopefully they got some decent ones in stock..

I'm experiencing the same thing right now!!! But i didn't do anything to the hardware. I simply opened it, checked it out and put it back together. The only thing is when plug it into my laptop, the screen flickers and doesn't go to the apple logo. it seems like there isn't enough power source. please help!!!
