    Default 2G Housing MOD
Thought I would share my iPhone 2G housing mod with you guys since this is where I started my interest in the iphone. I managed to get the housing to reflect my own image...so its pretty close to a mirror.

After 4 hours or dirty work, I think it's done!
I will definitely be doing this again, but next time i'll be using a new housing...The one i used was pretty banged up to begin with.

Let me know what you guys think

    Enjoy!!!

That's awesome and my advice to you would either get zagg or invisible shield to protect it from scratches to preserve that finish.

I just used a block of wood to support the sandpaper so that the finish was even and everything..

Well pretty much each photo i have posted is of each stage. I used five or six different grades of wet and dry gritpaper, ranging from like 400-1200 grade (1200 being the finest). I did every grade of paper once then moved on...and I did the 1200 grade paper three times as the finishing touch.

Also, every time I sanded, i did it in a different direction to everyother time...so i never sanded in the same direction twice. This helps in making the mirror finish apparently.

I plan on selling this 2G with this mirror housing soon - when I get the time! Will probably make more and sell them as well.

If you have ever opened your first gen you will notice that the apple logo is an insert that pops out, and the lens is part of the camera which also pops out.

They should pop right back in. You may need a little bit of an adhesive for the Apple logo.

Yeah the logo and camera lens generally pops back into place. A little glue will secure it in place.

Keep going! You almost have the polished look. Maybe use a higher grit sandpaper and start wet sanding more. After that, get some metal polish from an auto store and maybe some steel wool and keep polishing that bish! I guarantee it will look amazing.
