Replace SIM bed

I recently aquired a 3G 8gb that someone put their sim tray in backwards and in doing so they ripped off the tangs that contact the parts of the sim card.
Has anyone done a SIM bed replacement?
I am going to attempt it anyway but thought i would ask.

I can personally attest that it can be done, but as cpjr mentioned it requires soldering. If you are not comfortable soldering I would sell it for parts and try to purchase a different one, because most likely you will damage it further in the process.
