    Default iPhone 3GS touchscreen recalibration...?

So I have replaced a touchscreen on an iPhone 3GS (breaking and having to replace the LCD in the process ) and now it works. Kind of. The LCD shows the display appropriately but the touchscreen is being obnoxious. For instance to type an "a" I have to tap over the "d", I can't tap the bottom right icon at all, and sometimes it seems like the screen is confused about which way I'm swiping... The gist of it is I think the touchscreen I got is defective. I tried updating it from 3.0 to 3.1.2 which was successful but changed nothing for the screen. Any thoughts about ways to calibrate or anything? Thanks!

That's the conclusion I came to as well. Got a new digitizer and it worked like a charm. Much obliged to ask_tronics on eBay for getting me a decent digitizer in a great timeframe. He comes highly recommended.

Although this may not help, I have found that performing a hard reset (hold home and power button for 15+ seconds) has helped in the past with 2G phones. I would assume the same results of a hard reset would have been realized from a firmware restore.
