    Default Sleep/Wake button repair
Hey guys! I have a quick question.

First off, let me say I have taken my iPhone 3G apart, and I have experience in replacing parts on other phones as well.

    My question is this:

I dropped my phone, and the only thing that is not working, is the sleep/wake button. It does click down, but seems to not register. I've taken the WHOLE phone apart, reconnected the cables, and still no luck. Do you think I should buy a new set of cables?

I was thinking about buying this: iPhone 3G Headphone Jack Assembly - iFixit
*EDIT* I actually found a cheaper link for the 3G sleep/wake button at iPhone Replacement Parts, iPhone Batteries, iPhone Hard Drives, iPhone Repair Parts

Just wondering if its worth it.. I'm willing to buy the cables and go for it, but what if I damaged something else in the phone when it dropped? Anyway, tell me what you think.

    Thank you!

Yeah that's what I figured. Guess I'll try it out! I'll post back here with my results. More suggestions/replies are welcome!

If only the power button doesnt work. Then it has to either be the button mount or the button itself/flex cable. I would double check the button is still seated well.

Well, I'm assuming its something with the cable as well, which is why I wanted to replace it. When it had dropped, the button still clicked down perfectly fine. I even took it apart and reseated it, you can still hear it clicking.

I'm pretty sure that replacing it with a whole new cable should fix it. If not, then my phone is broken =/

Sorry to hear you're having the same problem as me! I haven't bought a new cable yet, but when I finally do, I'll let you know if it fixes my problem.
